"I see myself with a successful acting and writing career in which I will use my platform to promote the voices of the unheard... In Chicago, I want to open free art centers for the youth so they can show their talents without judgment or feeling the need to pursue another dream. These centers would also be a welcoming space for all identities and allow people to foster new talents for them to explore outside the stereotypes in the black community."
The goal is to inspire hope and change through education.
This scholarship assists well-rounded high school seniors and college students students living on the South Side of Chicago.
The Calvin C. Tillery Sr. Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of a man who believed in work ethic and education. He lived a long and blessed life until his passing at 92 years old.
