In Chicago, I want to open free art centers for the youth so they can show their talents without judgment or feeling the need to pursue another dream. These centers would also be a welcoming space for all identities and allow people to foster new talents for them to explore outside the stereotypes in the black community."

The Calvin C. Tillery Sr. Memorial Scholarship was created in honor of a man who believed in work ethic and education. He lived a long and blessed life until his passing at 92 years old. Calvin was humble, kind and resilient. One of his favorite phrases was: “Use your head for more than a hat rack.”
